A Little About Me

As we all know, there is more to fitness than soley physical aspects.  Your mind is very powerful in maintaining and sculpting your body.  Mind , body , and soul all come together to make the package complete.

My Bio

I was born in West Allis, Wisconsin.  I'm sure its no surprise I come from a small family, in more ways than one.  My mom had a rough time  raising  my older brother, Justin and myself, there was a father who left before I was born.
In 1989 we moved to a little town called Salem, Wisconsin, which I fondly call home.  It was a one horse town , with a school, a grocery store, gas station and a little restraunt.  Although I was born in the city, I found that I was a country girl at heart.
Having a big brother, he was the one person I always looked up to.  So , when he started watching professional wrestling when I was about twelve, I had to start watching too.  I guess that would be where I became enthralled with the concepts of strength, muscle and power.  Justin got a weight machine and he started to show me how to use it when I turned 15.  After that, my mom bought me a membership to the local gym, where I ended up almost every day for the next 3 years.
In highschool, I wanted to join the wrestling team, no one wanted a girl on the male team.  A few weeks into practice my sophomore year, I ripped my quadricep. So, if I couldn't compete, I healed up and started powerlifting with the guys who didn't think I could hang.  Well, I proved myself and earned some respect.  I graduated Highschool a semester early with Honors.  Having been given a job at a dental office when I turned 16, I had a steady job and was able to get extra credit for highschool just for going to work.
When I was 18, my mother and I had a falling out and she decided it was time I move out.  Having no where to go, my boyfriend at that time of three months gave me a place to go.  I ran into some health problems and was not able to work out.
I was going to college nights and weekends while working full time to make ends meet.  I knew there was something else I needed to do, I needed to get back into fitness again.  If I could make a few extra bucks to get through school doing fitness modeling, why shouldn't I.  I got an extra job hostessing at the restraunt my boyfreind manages.   I am still in college at Gateway Technical College, waiting to get my clinical seat and taking extra classes in the meantime.  Nursing is a needed field and I can really learn more about what I am passionate about.
Three years later my boyfreind Mike and I are still together, he is working hard to put me through school.  With the semester starting again in Fall, money is extra tight.
If I can lift weights to releive some stress, build my body and inspire others, why not.
So now I just have to see where the road leads me next......

Essential Oil Therapies

Raindrop Therapy / Essential Oil therapies

Essential oils are antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal. Each oil has properties to aid different ailments.A massage technique balances the body and aligns energy centres, relieving tension and sore muscles sending your mind and spirit into another dimension. Oils are dropped down the spine and on the reflexology centers of the feet. back. A hot compress is then applied to facilitate absorption of the oils and relax the muscles.  Along with easing you through a cold or flu, stress relief is yet another component of this treatment.  For more information, visit, http://www.youngliving.com

The Practice Of Yoga

The word yoga, from the Sanskrit word yuj means to yoke or bind and is often interpreted as "union" or a method of discipline.  It is a focus of strengthening your core ( midsection) and your mind. When your core is strong, you'll feel easier in your poses and more capable in your life. The most common form, asana, physical postures designed to purify the body and provide the physical strength and stamina required for long periods of meditation are practiced.  Meditation brings you into a relaxed state of mind.  The physical and mental combination make for a peaceful state.  In today's busy world when we all get caught up in the rush of work, Yoga is something I practice to attain peace and stress relief.http://www.yogabasics.com/

The Tao

"Rabbit's clever," said Pooh thoughtfully.
"Yes,"said Piglet, "Rabit's clever."
"And he has Brain."
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit has Brain."
There was a long silence.
"I suppose," said Pooh, "that that's why he never understands anything."
      - excerpt from Benjamin Hoff's The Tao Of Pooh

"Through working in harmony with life's circumstances, Taoist understanding changes what others may percieve as negative into something positive"
Taoist philosophy is based on the 'uncarved block' theory , which basically means that happiness is attained through simplicity.

" ... but, no matter how he may seem to others, especially to those fooled by appearances, Pooh, the Uncarved Block, is able to accomplish what he does because he is simpleminded."

Life is what you make it, if you can see that life is sweet, it will be.  Taoism is not really a religion, more of simple philosophy.  To me, most of it is just common sense.  It has been my favorite book for years, I think everyone should read it.  Check out the website or the book!

"Those who have no compassion have no wisdom. Knowledge, yes; cleverness, maybe; wisdom, no. A clever mind is not a heart.Knowledge doesn't really care. Wisdom does."

So thats me, plain and simple.
